There is a particular beauty in planning a wedding with cultural traditions, and Ava and Mark’s celebration introduced me to the beauty of Armenian customs. They decided to include unique traditions and make their union truly authentic. Each part of the bridal celebration was dreamy, bringing the guests an extraordinary experience.
Ava and Mark tied the knot in St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church before their closest family members and friends. The couple did not opt for a first look, so Mark saw Ava for the first time as she walked down the aisle with her father. It was quite an emotional and candid moment everyone enjoyed. From the traditional procession to the crowning of the bride and groom, every detail was carefully crafted to honour their heritage.
Another unique element of this Armenian wedding was the music that followed after the ceremony. There was an Armenian band in front of the church that played music as the lovely newlyweds walked outside the church for the first time as a married couple. At this point, they included another Armenian custom, the couple released a pair of doves just outside the church symbolizing their new lives as one. This was a breathtaking moment for everyone present because it is not something you see at every wedding celebration.
Before the cocktail hour and reception, Ava and Mark used the time to have their gorgeous wedding portrait session, which took place in front of the Aga Khan Museum. They opted for this location because the glorious museum offered a magnificent backdrop for their portraits. They had the chance to take some dreamy photos while capturing contemporary architecture in the background. The setting indeed marked their wedding uniquely!
The cocktail hour and reception took place at Storys Building in downtown Toronto. The couple used the chance to take some urban photographs in the city, so they snuck out and commemorated their special moments. The reception ended with the guests dancing all night to the Armenian band that knew how to create the perfect bridal atmosphere!
Working with Ava and Mark was a true delight, and the Armenian customs were just the cherry on top. Being part of the celebration was an experience of a lifetime, and I am honoured that they trusted me with their big day!
